Unit 6 When was it invented?Section B:1a—1eLook at the pictures below. They are potato chips. Do you know when potato chips were invented?I think they were invented in 1863.【课前预习】    1853年,美国印第安人乔治·克拉姆在纽约一家月亮湖饭店当厨师。一天晚上,有个客人想吃法式油煎食品,这个人对饭菜要求十分苛刻,他要求厨师像做正宗法式大餐那样,将油煎食品切得很薄。面对客人的严格要求,克拉姆没有生气,他把土豆切得像纸一样薄,然后将它们放到烧沸的油中。当他把这些香脆的土豆片放在客人面前时,这位挑剔的客人非满意。从此,这家饭店前经有客人一边散步一边大口大口地嚼着装在小小纸杯里的“油炸土豆片”。 知识目标: 1. Key Vocabulary: salty (adj.)咸的,含盐的 salt (n.) +y = salty (adj.) by mistake 弄错的,错误地   sour (adj.)酸的;有酸味的 crispy (adj.)脆的   customer (n.)顾客       Key sentences: 1. George wanted to make the customer happy.技能目标:1. 正确运用被动语态谈论potato chips 的历史和用途。2. 掌握一般过去式的被动语态的肯定形式、否定形式和疑问句形式 。情感态度: 学习我们potato chips的历史,丰富阅历,并对生活质量的认识。 1.Potato chips were invented by mistake. 薯片是被错误地发明的。 by mistake 的同义短语为by accident , 意为“意外地,错误的”。但是两者有区别:by mistake主要强调结果是错误的;by accident则没有这个意思,只是强调偶然性。 2.The customer was happy in the end.顾客最后很高兴。 customer为可数名词,意为“顾客,客人”。 in the end 为介词短语,意为“最后,最终”。含有end的短语:1)by the end of
