第十七周国旗下讲话稿：The Foreign Languages Festival in my eye

Dear teachers and fellow students:

Good morning. I’m greatly honored to be given the chance to speak here as a students’ representative. My topic today is the Foreign Languages Festival in my eye.

As far as I know, the Festival has provided students who have a special talent in English, French and German great chances to prove their ability and their talents. Every student will surely find some activities that suit you. Those who are especially gifted in reading and writing can enter the reading and writing competition. Those who take an eager interest in singing can take part in the singing contest and those who are humorous can take part in the joke-telling contests. And don’t forget the short-play competition for the artistic and creativity. Those activities give every student a chance to shine and show their abilities. The activities award every one of the participants with confidence and the interest and love of foreign culture. You learn a lot and you develop. As a senior one student, I have been involved in the Foreign Languages and Culture Festival for four times and I have gained a lot from the various activities. I assure you that you’ll certainly make progress while participating in the activities.

As for those who aren’t especially interested in English, or for those who think that they can’t learn foreign languages well, this is also a chance. During the culture festival, the school plays videos that are carefully chosen by the teachers. They help you to know the culture and customs of other countries. They will certainly help you to develop an interest for language-learning and will help you practice your listening skills. The school also offers activities that needs group work, such as the short-play contest. This not only needs students who are good at English but also those who are good at acting and designing. Also, the Christmas party is something that everyone looks forward to. There are beautiful fireworks and amazing decorations The feeling of a carnival lies in the air and each class will decorate their classrooms with unique gargets to make the scent of Christmas and fun linger everywhere on the campus. This is a time to have fun!

Therefore, we can see that the Foreign Languages and Culture Festival is not only for the students who are good at language learning but also for everyone to enjoy: the Christmas party, the videos and the fun we have. For those who are talented in English, it’s time to show your ability and your skills, this will give you confidence. As for those who have no interest in English, this will be the chance to develop your English skills and have some fun and enjoy Christmas. Everyone will certainly find something that suits you and makes you happy. At the end of the two-week long festival, everyone will realize the progress they have made and feel really glad about it.

So, let’s try to have some fun and at the same time, promote personal development!
